A Collaborative Partnership with Boyd’s Station

The members of American Reportage have a steadfast commitment to giving back to the photojournalism community. We believe that extending our time and experience to mentor young, emerging documentary photojournalists will strengthen the profession and help sustain the integrity of photojournalism into the future

In that spirit, we have been partnered with Boyd’s Station to assist in mentoring students participating in their annual archive project documenting Harrison County, Kentucky

THE REINKE GRANT FOR VISUAL STORYTELLING

Student documentary photographers are awarded the REINKE GRANT FOR VISUAL STORYTELLING annually providing for a 12-week intensive documentary opportunity to participate in the Boyd’s Station Project 306.36 program to photograph and write about the people and culture of Harrison County, Kentucky.

Highlighted by weekly critiques and commentary offered by renowned documentary photographers and journalists, the Reinke Grant for Visual Storytelling provide a unique one of a kind opportunity for the next generation of storytellers to expand their skills and develop the tools to sustain a career in journalism and documentary photography.

Continuing in the documentary tradition of the Farm Security Administration pictorial project’s recording of American life between 1935 and 1944, this collection of images taken by photographers over many years will become an important historical record of the people and places inside the 310 square miles of Harrison County.

THE MARY WITHERS RURAL WRITING FELLOWSHIP

Boyd’s Station awards annually the Mary Withers Rural Writing Fellowship to a current college student or recent graduate with a talent for reporting and writing to provide an exciting and demanding journalism fellowship program living and reporting from rural Harrison County, Kentucky.

The Mary Withers Rural Writing Fellow will work directly with Pulitzer Prize-winning editors from The Cincinnati Enquirer leading up to the start of the fellowship and through out the duration of the recipients time in Kentucky through a unique partnership with the Boyd’s Station 306.36 archive project.

Boyd’s Station Associates Program with American Reportage

Students taking part in Boyd’s Station’s 306.36 Archive Project will be considered Associates with the American Reportage Collective.

Members of the Collective will be available as mentors and editors during their work at Boyd’s.

In support of the associates’ work, American Reportage will display on the Collective’s website curated work created by the students. The work will also be promoted on the Collective’s social media platforms.

Additionally American Reportage will include selected work in our regular updates to photo editors that we work with across the country in the hope of helping jump-start their careers.
