Becoming a Member of American Reportage

American Reportage is a photographic cooperative incorporated as a limited liability company and owned by the photographers we represent.

At the present time, we are not accepting applications for membership.

We do not have a schedule for adding members but we do expect to add new members in the future. We will make an open call for portfolios at that time.

Since 1987, the city has been designated as a distressed municipality under the state's Act 47, a law that created a recovery program that's helped some 29 municipalities in the state stay afloat. The city now has fewer residents now than the local steel mill had employees (14,000) in its heyday. The mill closed for good 20 years ago. With few good job opportunities available, children who grow up in the area may be faced with tough economic times when they are ready to join the workforce.
Santa Rosa is home to a community that strives to stay alive as rural American towns begin to collapse with ever changing economics and lack of opportunities for the youth. Santa Rosa High School students Lauren Green and Gerard Crisostomo leave The Comet Restaurant to attend the homecoming dance in the fall of 2013. Green's parents moved her to Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico, and Crisostomo attends college in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Many families and youth leave Santa Rosa to pursue other opportunities that are not available in the town.
Generations Under the Influence Photography by Brian Plonka Alcohol can be a legitimate and joyous influence in our everyday lives. The content is not to pass judgement, fuel debate or point fingers at those who drink , whether in moderation or excess. Rather, it is an attempt to put faces on an issue that is so tightly woven into society’s tapestry that we often don’t realize when it is causing our own lives to unravel. Alcohol’s influence can be found be found in every ethnic and social economic corner of our world. That impact is not limited by age, and it persists from generation to generation. Generations Under the Influence We are introduced to alcohol at an early age. Three-year-old James Ramirez shies away from his father's intentions to have him drink beer. “It doesn't smell good,” says James.

As photojournalists we supply information to a world that is overwhelmed with preoccupations and full of people who need the company of images....We pass judgement on what we see, and this involves an enormous responsibility.
